Microsoft Releases Anti Virus Program

Microsoft have released their own anti-virus and anti-spyware program which has been named Security Essentials.
After a relatively brief period of beta testing, the application is now available free to download from Microsoft. It works on any version of Windows from XP onwards.
Microsoft do not recommend running Security Essentials at the same time as another anti-virus or anti-spyware solution.
Performance of Security Essentials is fast and unobtrusive, especially running on Windows 7 machines tested so far.
Our advice to users currently using another software provider would be to take a look at Security Essentials at the time your annual subscription is due. If you are currently running a free anti-virus solution (or no solution at all) we recommend downloading and installing this new solution.
